DRAFT 8

Draft 7

Below you will find everything I have written for the guidebook so far. I know that this is more restricted so please know I am open to your guidance and feedback on these! The example pages are inspired by old family documents that I have attached ( I think are really beautiful). The font and frame details are a highlight!

THE FOOL

0 (0)

VERDANT, INNOCENCE, BEGINNING

Off you go on your two little feet,

With a proudness, a sureness, the journey looks sweet.

The fresh little flowers of white and of blue

Have unfurled their morning born petals for you.

With your chin to the sky, you are lead by your will-

Lest fears of the unknownness frighten you still.

Befuddled or rushed or without a sure plan

Could lead you to finish before you began.

HAPLESS, NIEVE, RECKLESS

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE MAGICIAN
I (1)
CONJURATION, MASTERY, MAGNETISM
From sky above to earth below,
I call, I shape, I make it so.
With open hands and steady sight
The wand awakes and grants delight.
So be it cast from rotten heart
A knotted tongue, or guile,
The scepter dances with no spark
Though labored long awhile,
FOLLY, INEPTITUDE, MANIPULATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE HIGH PRIESTESS

II (2)

INTUITION, VEILED, SUBCONSCIOUS

Poised at the doorway of dark and of strange

You enter a world that’s inside.

The truth tiptoes lightly on velveteen feet,

Shown only to those with clear eye.

A mind tossed about by panic and doubt

Is surely to falter and slow.

So you wade far away from the outermost world-

It is inward, not onward, you go.

LANGUID, SECRET, SILENT

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE EMPRESS
III (3)
FRUITING, LUSH, PLENTITUDE
Running along with the blue river’s tide,
The greenness and lushness are spread far and wide.
Like the arms of a mother, so soft and so dear
All along this oasis new life shall appear.
Yet where brush grows too thick and sun grows a bit shy
The tangling of vines will soon hide the day’s sky.
The excess will smother, too much it will bind,
And the gifts of the earth will then be turned unkind.
TANGLED, OVERGROWN, ENCUMBERED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE EMPEROR

IV (4)

MAGISTRAL, STRUCTURED, SOVREIGN

Atop the stone-made throne of might

He guards upon us day and night.

With eyes that reach the farthest lands

He shelters us all with steadfast hands.

Vile tyranny may come to creep,

Pernicious habits harden deep.

The coldest might reveals so clear

Control becomes the cage of fear.

TYRANNICAL, DOMINEERING, CONSTRAINED

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE HEIROPHANT
V (5)
SACROSANCT, TRADITION, ORTHODOX
Fingers brush the brittle page
Of lessons learned, passed down through age.
Like those of us who came before
We’re shown the path, the tested door.
But shall you forge your own footpath
Or seek your true desires;
Unmooring from all you once knew.
You drift away from what was true
INDIVIDUALISM, NONCONFORMITY, DEFIANT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE LOVERS

VI (6)

DEVOTED, UNION,  DESIRE

Two souls joined and intertwined

Inside the bath of love divine.

A sacred vow may shift the lands

With confluence of joining hands.

With promise dashed or vow betrayed

The bond of trust will start to fray..

Blade of temptation severs heart

The canvas stripped of nature’s art.

TEMPTATION, MISALIGNMENT, DIVIDE

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE CHARIOT
VII (7)
TRIUMPHANT, VALOR, RESOLVE
Full speed ahead on trusty steed
With burning passion to succeed.
Through storm and drought the master rides,
Unfazed by feral ocean tides.
Pride will paint a voyage long,
An ego makes the foe more strong.
Should you remain a peevish child
And throw the reigns, the beast runs wild.
DISSOLUTE, IMPASSE, RASH
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

STRENGTH

VIII (8)

GRACE, COURAGE, FORTITUDE

With gentle hand a horse is tamed,

The power that’s inside reclaimed .

Through softness comes the greatest might,

A tender strength to rid of plight.

Shall one let weakness feast on fear

And let the feral steed appear.

Impulses smother steady flame

And anger burns what love could claim.

TURMOIL, FRAILTY, INSTABILITY

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE HERMIT
IX (9)
GUIDANCE, WISDOM, ILLUMINATED
Free and lost and wandering one,
at last you face what you’ve outrun .
Your body guides you to whats right
And in the end all will feel light.
If gone too deep or far too long,
The trail gets cold and dark and wrong.
Your whistle fades with soft restraint
And purpose becomes pale and faint.
FORLORN, WITHDRAWN, DISORIENTED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

WHEEL OF FORTUNE

X (10)

PROVIDENCE, DESTINY, FORTUITOUS

Upon the highest hill, abutt the deepest lake

She’s fetched a hand of summer’s cherries, time to take a break.

Constellations on the palm are stains of deep red meat,

The fruit is turned and twisted, and plucked and ripe and sweet.

One below the deepest lake afoot the tallest mound

Has found the blackest pits of fruit left scattered on the ground.

She dreams of lying down among the plush green grass above

And sink into the sweetened past she knew of joy and love.

DELAY,  RESISTANT,  ERRATIC

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JUSTICE
XI (11)
RIGHTEOUS, EVEN-HANDED, PRINCIPLED
Do I stand by my word? Have I done right by all?
On a hands and knees race did I stay down and crawl?
If fate shall now judge me and grant me my fate,
I will gaze up at the sun and accept it with grace.
Have I caused you more trouble than trouble was due?
Did I tell a white lie and then say it was true?
For the doom that is coming I cannot evade it.
I cant turn and avert, or avoid it or trade it.
CORRUPT, BIASED, UNBALANCED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE HANGED ONE

XII (12)

SURRENDER, PERSPECTIVE, SUSPENSION

From heels over head this old world looks brand new.

Through a moment of yielding comes broader a view.

Theres some littler things that are now given height.

And with patience and waiting you gain inner sight.

Swaying in one place for hours and hours

Has golden green grapes that have mostly turned sour.

The moment of sacrifice growing its fruit

Has become a coiled and forbidding root.

RESISTANCE, SACRIFICE, DELAY

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DEATH
XIII (13)
TRANSMUTATION, RENEWAL, RELEASE
A shimmering and sunny stream,
Come season’s change dries like a dream.
The line where waters once ran free
Is where a clear new path shall be.
Yet fear resists the change of time,
What now is gone had once a prime.
To cling to one thing with no trust
Will become nothing more than dust.
RESISTANCE, STASIS, DECAY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

TEMPERANCE

XIV (14)

EVENHANDED, FLOW, HARMONY

From fire to air and sea to land,

One passes through with steady hand.

For small things done in mindful ways

Is how you carry through your days.

While one drags down the other rose,

Imbalance of the  antipodes.

The mourning cloak, with tattered wings,

Must brace itself for austere things.

ASKEW, EXCESS, EXTREME

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE DEVIL
XV (15)
BONDAGE, OBSESSION, SHADOW
That which keeps you in such strain
Are chains of pleasure turned to pain.
The master in a mirrored cell
In self bound vice, a prison spell.
Its only you who can set free
The chains that bind your liberty.
The bars around you rearrange
First comes awareness, then comes change.
AWAKENING, DISILLUSION, LIBERATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE TOWER

XVI (16)

UPHEAVAL, REVELATION, SHOCK

With a crack at the tip of the tower with light

The life that you knew is devoured by night.

The bricks and the beams tumble down from the scene,

Yet from shattered illusions new truths can be seen

Yet shall you patch what begs to fall,

A slapdash fix of stonemade walls,

The truth will crack, supports will sway,

The tower slowly rots away.

DISASTER, FEAR, DENIAL

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE STAR
XVII (17)
AUSPICE, LUMINARY, REJUVENESCENCE
The perfume of hope whistles all through the air
As you wish for the best that could be.
A blessed renewal from being stripped bare
A newfound sensation to dream.
...
Oh how despair dims the shiniest star
When the current of life seems unruly.
What’s longing to heal blisters into a scar
Where a dream once flowed ever so coolly.
PALL, ENNUI, DESOLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE MOON

XVIII (18)

TENEBROUS, SUBCONSCIOUS, INTUITION

Ropes tied to each of your limbs knotted tight,

Orchestrated like figure on string.

They'll surely burn off if brought into the light

Yet you dread what the freedom might bring.

...

Ropes knotted tightly resist every shift,

You find solace in tenebrous binding.

When loosened and stripped and at last set adrift

Unveiled to you what’s been confining.

ILLUSIVE, PHRENETIC, UNVEILED

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE SUN
XIX (19)
TENDERNESS, TEEMING, RADIANCE
Inside of our golden and effulgent sun,
Lives laughter and warmth and exuberant fun.
To languish below it will make your heart gay
And have you bright footed  the rest of the day.
...
Forget now the days that were sullen and glum,
In sweet summer fields we hear earth's gentle hum.
A dance of the breeze and a soft daylit rain
Will find you as free as a child once again.
INNOCENCE, DAPPLED, QUICKENED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

JUDGEMENT

XX (20)

RECKONING, AWAKENING, RENEWAL

To pass through here you must atone,

The lingered past now will be shown.

So stop and think upon what was,

The path unfolds for those who pause.

By turning away, pretending not to hear,

You follow your tail, in a circle you steer.

Shame and absurdity, laughter and doubt,

Reminding us all that, we too, must account.

SELF-SCRUTINY,  OVERLOOKED, PROCRASTINATION

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE WORLD
XXI (21)
ALCHEMY, INTEGRATION, COMPLETION
Each thread of life is intertwined,
A weaving of each separate line.
Step back to see it in its allness,
From tiny blooms to mountain tallness
When we ignore what lies between,
The depth of endings wont be seen.
To haste the process brings no pith,
The book of life remains a myth.
UNRESOLVED, FRAGMENTED, UNATTAINABLE
Lastly, for marketing, I was going to create a short animated trailer for the deck to share on social media and email,
I know that is a lot of information so thank you for taking the time to look through it all. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! All My Best, Pini
