ALDILA

Hi Sophie and the Lo Scarabeo team! I am excited to show you my work that I have completed for my tarot deck. Looking forward to hearing your feedback and thoughts. Very much hoping to be able to collaborate on this very special collection of works!

These are my final three color ways for the back of the card, narrowed down! The deck was illustrated using a standard 3.5 X 5.5 inch size for a large deck and I would love to be able to keep it as close to that size as possible.

would be interested in using a canvas base color similar to above references.

Below you will find the 78 cards sketched out as a collection, some are still in need of a bit of editing, but this is the latest draft of everything.

Below you will find everything I have written for the guidebook so far. I know that this is more restricted so please know I am open to your guidance and feedback on these! The example pages are inspired by old family documents that I have attached, I think are really beautiful. The font and frame details are a highlight! The poems are a bit ambitious as I am not a professional writer, so I am open to suggestions.

Seconda Bozza Al Di Là Tarocchi Guide Book

By Pini (Nicholas Pini)

THE FOOL 0

VERDANT, INNOCENCE, BEGINNING

Tac, tic-tac of your toe to the trail

'Tis merely the onset of this budding tale

The fresh little flowers of white and of blue

Just opened their morning born petals for you

Chin to the  sky, here you are your own guide

Lest fears of the unknown send you off to hide

Befuddled or rushed or without a sure plan

Could lead you to finish before you've began

HAPLESS, NIEVE, RECKLESS

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE MAGICIAN I (1)
CONJURATION, MASTERY, MAGNETISM
Drawing from the sky above,
Invoking all one fancies,
Offerings plenty thereof,
As the scepter dances.
Be it cast from rotten heart,
Or with a knotted tongue,
Mischief takes the place of grace,
One’s fate will not be fun.
FOLLY, INEPTITUDE, MANIPULATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE HIGH PRIESTESS II (2)

INTUITION, VEILED, SUBCONSCIOUS

Here at the doorway of dark and of strange

You enter a world that’s inside you

The truth tip-toes lightly on velveteen feet

Revealed to whom has a clear eye to

A mind and a body thrashing with doubt

Are surest to sink without flow

Wade far away from the external world

It is there, in yourself, you must go

LANGUID, SECRET, SILENT

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE EMPRESS III (3)
FRUITING, LUSH, PLENTITUDE
Running along the green river’s tide
The lushness and greenness and joy of each side
Spreads like the arms of a mother so dear
At the mouth of the stream life begins to appear
Where brush becomes burden and sun becomes scarce
The overgrown vines will hinder traverse
In excess it will smother, too much it will bind
The gifts of the earth will then be undermined.
TANGLED, BARREN, ENCUMBERED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE EMPEROR IV (4)

MAGISTRAL, STRUCTURED, SOVREIGN

Upon the stone-made throne of might

He guards upon us day and night

With eyes that reach the farthest lands

He guards us with protective hands

Vile tyranny may come to creep

Pernicious habits harden deep

The coldest might reveals so clear

Control becomes the cage of fear

TYRANICAL, DOMINEERING, CONSTRAINED

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE HEIROPHANT V (5)
SACROSANCT, TRADITION, ARCHIVAL
Tongue to tip to turn the page
You learned that from your mother
Tradition written down right here
And passed down from one another
But shall you forge your own footpath
Or seek your true desires
You drift away from what once was
And all that it requires
INDIVIDUALISM, NONCONFORMITY, DEFIANT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE LOVERS VI (6)

DEVOTED, UNION,  DESIRE

Two souls joint and intertwined

Inside the bath of love divine

A sacred vow may shift the lands

When they have chosen to join hands

With promise dashed or vow betrayed

The bond of trust will now decay

Blade of temptation severs heart

The canvas stripped of nature’s art

TEMPTATION, MISALIGNMENT, DIVIDE

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE CHARIOT VII (7)
TRIUMPHANT, VALOR, RESOLVE
Full speed ahead on trusty steed
With ample passion to succeed
Through storm and drought the master rides
Unfazed by feral ocean tides
Pride will make the voyage long
And ego makes opponent strong
Should you remain ill-tempered child
And throw the reigns, the beast runs wild
DISSOLUTE, IMPASSE, RASH
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

STRENGTH VIII (8)

GRACE, COURAGE, FORTITUDE

With gentle hand a beast is tamed

The power thats inside reclaimed

Through softness comes the greatest might

A tender strength to rid of plight

Shall one let weakness feast on fear

And let the untamed beast appear

Impulses smother a steady flame

And anger burns what love could claim

TURMOIL, FRAILTY, INSTABILITY

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE HERMIT IX (9)
GUIDANCE, WISDOM, ILLUMINATED
Free thickheaded girl
Climb down to that secret world
Your body guides you to whats right
And in the end all will be light
If gone too deep or far too long
The trail gets cold and dark and wrong
Your whistle becomes soft and distant
And purpose becomes nonexistent
FORLORN, WITHDRAWN, DISORIENTED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

WHEEL OF FORTUNE X (10)

PROVIDENCE, DESTINY, FORTUITOUS

Upon the highest hill, abutt the deepest lake

She’s fetched a hand of summer’s cherries, time to take a break

Constellations on the palm, stains of deep red meat

The fruit is turned and twisted, and plucked and ripe and sweet

One below the deepest lake afoot the tallest mound

Has found the blackest pits of fruit left scattered on the ground

She dreams of lying down upon the plush green grass above

And sink into the sweetened past she knew of joy and love

DELAY,  RESISTANT,  ERRATIC

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JUSTICE XI (11)
RIGHTEOUS, EVEN-HANDED, PRINCIPLED
Do I stand  by my word? Have I done right by all?
On a hands and knees race did I stay down and crawl?
If fate shall now judge me and grant me my face
I  will gaze up at the sun and accept it with grace
Have I caused you more trouble than trouble was due?
Did I tell a white lie and then say it was you?
For the doom that is coming I cannot evade it
I cant turn and avert, or avoid it or trade it.
CORRUPT, BIASED, UNBALANCED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE HANGED ONE XII (12)

SURRENDER, PERSPECTIVE, SACRIFICE

Upside down the world looks new

Through yielding comes a broader view

Some little things are given height

The waiting leads to inner sight

To sway in place for hours and hours

The grapes around will become sour

Sacrifice that grows no fruit

Becomes a coiled, forbidding root

STUCK, SACRIFICE, DELAY

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DEATH XIII (13)
TRANSMUTATION, RENEWAL, RELEASE
A shimmering and sunny stream
Come season’s change dries like a dream
The line where waters once ran free
Is where a clear new path shall be
Yet fear resists the change of time
What now is gone had once a prime
To cling to one thing with no trust
Will become nothing more than dust
RESISTANCE, STASIS, DECAY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

TEMPERANCE XIV (14)

HARMONY, FLOW, BALANCE

Create a rhythm just for you

Its much like jumping rope

The patient pace will help you with

Ascending up the slope

Skipping two or three ahead

Will split you at the seems

Impatience, rushing, skipping parts

will lead you to extremes

IMBALANCE, EXCESS, EXTREMES

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE DEVIL XV (15)
BONDAGE, OBSESSION, SHADOW
That which keeps you in such strain
Are chains of pleasure turned to pain
The master in the mirrored cell
A self bound vice, a prison spell
Its only you who can set free
The chains that bind your liberty
The bars around you rearrange
First comes awareness, then comes change
AWAKENING, DISILLUSION, LIBERATION
Lastly, for marketing, I was going to create a short animated trailer for the deck to share on social media and email,
I know that is a lot of information so thank you for taking the time to look through it all. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! All My Best, Pini
